Kiwanis Club of Brecksville

The Brecksville Kiwanis Club is a local chapter of Kiwanis International. Service projects are based on local community needs. Members work together to give children the chance to learn, grow and succeed.

Our Club meets at Chippewa Place 7005 Stadium Dr, on Thursdays, at 6:15 PM. Dinner is served followed by a meeting with service projects or speakers. Click here for meeting schedule for 2013-2014.

Egg Hunt

The annual Brecksville Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt will be held on April 19th at the Oak Grove Pavilion in the Brecksville Metro Parks. Please come early to enjoy some doughnuts and drinks, the hunt begins at 10:00AM and the earlier you get there the better parking spot you will have. We are ready for you to come out rain or shine so come out and have a great time.

The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra returns to Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 7:00PM. This evening marks the seventh appearance of the orchestra at the school since 2001. The concert will be led by Brett Mitchell, assistant conductor of The Cleveland Orchestra and music director of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra. The concert will include works by Torke, Prokofiev, and Berlioz.

Scholarships Available

Through its work within the community, the Kiwanis Club of Brecksville encourages future generations of service leaders to make a positive impact upon the City. In an effort to assist these future leaders, the Kiwanis Club of Brecksville and the Kiwanis Foundation of Brecksville awards scholarships. Last year the club awarded 7 scholarships totaling $11,000. These scholarships are strongly based on the applicant’s service to the community.

The general scholarship application can be applied for by anyone who lives in Brecksville or goes to Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School. The Kay Lube Scholarship is for anyone who plans to pursue a career in teaching. Applications are due by March 31, 2014.

The 67th Annual Horse Show takes place on Sunday, August 3rd, 2014 at the Cleveland Metroparks - River Ford Area. We have put together another exciting day for exhibitors and spectators alike. We would like to welcome back our supporting Vendor, the Clip-ity Clop Saddlery and Western Wear, featuring a wide display of tack and related items. A highlight of the day is the Arabian exhibit during our show.

New this year at the Brecksville Kiwanis Horse Show is the President's Choice award and two memorial trophies complete with horse sashes. Come to the River Ford field in the Brecksville Metropark on Sunday, August 3rd and see which horse will win these beautiful trophies and sashes. We look forward to seeing you. Empty Bowls Project

Empty Bowls 2014 will take place on Thursday, February 6 from 5:00pm-7:30pm at the Brecksville Human Services Center. Tickets are on sale now for a $10 donation to this cause. For more information and tickets, click here.

The Kiwanis Club of Brecksville on February 28th did a service project of making peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches for St. Malachi Church in Cleveland for their homeless mission work. To view pictures, click here.

Jim McAllister Installed as Lieutenant Governor

Jim McAllister, a former President of the Brecksville Kiwanis Club, was installed as the Lieutenant Governor for the 24th Ohio District of Kiwanis International. The 24th District encompasses 12 Kiwanis Clubs in the Southwestern suburbs of Cleveland. The installation took place at the Brecksville Community Center on September 19th. There were approximately 85 Kiwanis members from Northeast Ohio to witness the ceremony.
